June 3rd Minors Recap

Triple-A Omaha lost their second straight in Memphis, losing Saturday night, 6-1.

omahaThe Storm Chasers collected just five hits, two from Bubba Starling (including a double).

Storm Chasers starter Yender Caramo dropped to 0-4 on the season, as he allowed all six runs on 12 hits over four innings. Scott Alexander allowed two hits and a walk over 1.2 innings while striking out three. Eric Stout struck out three over 2.1 hitless innings of relief.

After not playing since May 29th, Brayan Pena pinch-hit for Hunter Dozier (who struck out in his previous three at-bats) in the ninth. Pena grounded out.

*In roster news, the Royals called up outfielder Billy Burns and sent fellow outfielder Jorge Soler to Omaha to get more playing time.

 

Double-A NW Arkansas had their game in Midland suspended due to rain in the 8th inning. The Naturals had just taken a 6-5 lead in the top half of the inning on a wild pitch.

The game will be completed on Sunday as part of a doubleheader.

 

High-A Wilmington split their four-game series in Winston-Salem, as they lost the finale, 5-2. The Blue Rocks move on to play Down East for three games beginning Sunday afternoon.

The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth when Brandon Downes led off with a home run. However, Blue Rocks starter AJ Puckett just couldn’t hold the lead.

The Dash came right back in the bottom of the inning with two runs to take the lead. The Blue Rocks tied the game in the top of the seventh on an Anderson Miller two out double (he went 2-for-4). But the Dash came right back to tie the game against Puckett on a one out RBI single. In came Matt Tenuta, who allowed a two-run homer to give the Dash back the lead.

Puckett allowed four runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out a career-high eight batters.

 

legends logoLow-A Lexington won their second straight against Augusta, winning 8-3. With the score tied at 3-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Legends scored three runs and then two more in the 8th inning.

In the 7th inning, the Legends strung together four hits and an RBI ground out. Angelo Castellano went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Kort Peterson went 2-for-3 with a run scored. He also stole his fifth base.

With two outs in the eighth, Khalil Lee hit a two-run home run, his seventh of the season.

Walker Sheller earned his second win in relief, as he pitched three scoreless innings. He allowed one hit, walked one, and hit one, while striking out one.
