The votes are in-the Blue Rocks 25th Anniversary team

The votes are in and counted, so now it is time to unveil the Wilmington Blue Rocks 25th Anniversary team. You can click on the links to find information on the other choices and the winners.

  • Outfielders: Carlos Beltran, Donovan Delaney, Raul Gonzalez, and Derrick Robinson
  • Starting pitchers: Zack Greinke, Rowdy Hardy, Jose Rosado, Brian Sanches, and Danny Tamayo
  • Relief pitchers: Mark Peterson and there was a tie for the second between Steve Prihoda, Yender Caramo, and Orber Moreno

I wanted to thank Mark Jordan for voting every single day. If it wasn’t for him (and the Peterson’s), you would just be reading who I would choose (which I will tell you about tomorrow or it may be pushed back until Monday). Doing a post like this made me realize maybe I’m not so good at this whole journalism thing.

*I just wanted to remind those who are reading this that I don’t work for the team and I just thought it would be fun to come up with an anniversary team. The Blue Rocks will be giving out a 25th Anniversary baseball card set on Saturday, April 8th, so we can see if the players are the same.

About Jen Nevius

I first became a KC Royals fan way back in 1995 when I attended my first Wilmington Blue Rocks game. I fell in love with minor league baseball then and began following the Royals as former Blue Rocks clawed their way to the big leagues. 3+ years ago I started covering the Royals for Aerys Sports, but since the site has been shut down, I am going out on my own.

I enjoyed voting as it brought back some memories of the past 24 seasons. I enjoy going to the games and you never know who may turn out to be the next superstar that comes through Wilmington- just look at some that already have. Thanks for putting out the poll and think the team looks pretty good.
