Aguilas stays alive in DWL Finals

Aguilas stayed alive in the Dominican Winter League Finals last night with a 3-2 walk off victory over Licey in ten innings. Aguilas had not won a game in the best-of-nine series since the death of teammate Andy Marte on Sunday, as Licey leads the series four games to three.

In the win, free agent Angel Franco pinch-hit for former KC Royal Orlando Calixte in the seventh (he struck out). Franco stayed in the game to play second base and would later walk (in the ninth).

Lefty Tim Hill blew his second save of the series, allowing the tying run in the bottom of the 6th inning. He entered with two on and two out, but allowed an RBI single to Zoilo Almonte (Mexico). It came after Licey tied the game in the top half of the inning. Hill would get a strikeout to escape further damage.

Game 8 will be played tonight in Licey.

About Jen Nevius

I first became a KC Royals fan way back in 1995 when I attended my first Wilmington Blue Rocks game. I fell in love with minor league baseball then and began following the Royals as former Blue Rocks clawed their way to the big leagues. 3+ years ago I started covering the Royals for Aerys Sports, but since the site has been shut down, I am going out on my own.
