Former Royals in the postseason: Dodgers even NLCS

The LA Dodgers evened up the National League Championship Series at 1-1 with a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw retired 14 in a row before allowing two singles with two outs in the 5th inning. Over seven innings, he allowed just those two hits and walked one while striking out six.

Closer Kenley Jansen struck out four of the six batters he faced in closing out the victory (it was his first six out save).

After Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks was pulled with one out in the 6th inning, the Cubs bullpen held the Dodgers hitless (though they did walk three).

Former KC Royal Mike Montgomery walked two and struck out one in two scoreless innings of relief. Fellow former Royal (and current Cub) Ben Zobrist once again started in left field and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout.

The NLCS now moves to LA on Tuesday night, with Jake Arrieta starting for the Cubs against Rich Hill of the Dodgers.

About Jen Nevius

I first became a KC Royals fan way back in 1995 when I attended my first Wilmington Blue Rocks game. I fell in love with minor league baseball then and began following the Royals as former Blue Rocks clawed their way to the big leagues. 3+ years ago I started covering the Royals for Aerys Sports, but since the site has been shut down, I am going out on my own.
