Ramos, Schwindel, Junis represent in TL ASG

The South pounded the North in the Texas League All-Star Game. Three NW Arkansas Naturals participated.

2016 tl asg logoThird baseman Mauricio Ramos got the start for the North Division, batting fifth. He popped out to second base in the 2nd inning. In the fourth, Ramos drove in the North’s second run with an RBI single.

In the 6th inning, the subs entered the game, meaning in came first baseman Frank Schwindel (batting sixth). His first at-bat came in the bottom of the sixth and he reached on an error. In the 7th inning, Schwindel struck out swinging. In the bottom of the ninth as the tying run, he grounded into a double play to end the game.

Jake Junis got one inning of work for the North. He pitched a perfect 4th inning, throwing just eight pitches. Oh and he struck out two.

 

The South scored in every inning but four, winning 8-5. The North got back in the game with a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh from Bruce Caldwell (St. Louis). Former big league outfielder Jordan Schafer (LAD) pitched the top of the ninth for the North, facing two batters (strikeout and a walk).

 

*Earlier in the evening, Schwindel came in third place in the HR Derby.
