Hill selected for ABL All-Star Game

On Tuesday, the Australian Baseball League announced its rosters for the upcoming All-Star Game to be held in Melbourne on December 16th. It pits the Aussies against the World.

The KC Royals will be represented.

Mike Hill

New Blue Rock Mike Hill as he debuted at third base on September 7, 2015 (Jen Nevius).

Mike Hill, a member of the host Aces, was named to the World roster as a catcher (both of the Aces catcher made the team). While Hill has struggled of late, he is currently hitting .276 with five doubles, a home run, ten RBIs, and 15 runs scored.

Remember Edwin Carl. I sure do. He pretty much pitched every Wilmington Blue Rocks game I went to in 2012.

Well, he also made the World roster, as a member of Perth. Carl is one of the top pitchers in the ABL. He is currently 3-0 with a 1.60 ERA (second-best in the league). In seven starts (totaling 45 innings), he has allowed just 23 hits, walked 15, and struck out 48.

You might not recognize Carl, as he has long hair now and last pitched in independent ball with Winnipeg.

About Jen Nevius

I first became a KC Royals fan way back in 1995 when I attended my first Wilmington Blue Rocks game. I fell in love with minor league baseball then and began following the Royals as former Blue Rocks clawed their way to the big leagues. 3+ years ago I started covering the Royals for Aerys Sports, but since the site has been shut down, I am going out on my own.
