Blue Rocks Luis Rico’s Game 1 in video

Despite taking the loss, Wilmington Blue Rocks reliever Luis Rico pitched way better than the result. He threw 44 pitches, 31 strikes over 3.1 innings. He walked one and only allowed one hit, a double in the tenth.

He entered in the 6th inning and got out of a two on, two out jam by getting Myrtle Beach Pelicans third baseman Jason Vosler:

In the 7th inning, Rico struck out Pelicans shortstop Gleybar Torres on three pitches. He then got Daniel Lockhart out on one pitch:

About Jen Nevius

I first became a KC Royals fan way back in 1995 when I attended my first Wilmington Blue Rocks game. I fell in love with minor league baseball then and began following the Royals as former Blue Rocks clawed their way to the big leagues. 3+ years ago I started covering the Royals for Aerys Sports, but since the site has been shut down, I am going out on my own.
