The entire 9th inning of the Blue Rocks clincher in video

Okay, so I didn’t video the entire 9th inning of the Carolina League Northern Division Series clincher for the Wilmington Blue Rocks. Mainly because Lynchburg’s first batter swung at the first pitch.

Below you can watch the five batters that followed and hear the roar of the crowd. It wasn’t a big crowd, but EVERYONE was into EVERY PITCH. It may have been my favorite crowd of the season.

The second batter of the ninth against Estarlin Cordero was Eric Haase:

Next up was Mike Papi, a Blue Rocks killer over the last two days:

Nine-hole hitter Ivan Castillo followed:

Hillcats leadoff hitter Yhoxian Medina made things interesting:

Finally, the final out:

About Jen Nevius

I first became a KC Royals fan way back in 1995 when I attended my first Wilmington Blue Rocks game. I fell in love with minor league baseball then and began following the Royals as former Blue Rocks clawed their way to the big leagues. 3+ years ago I started covering the Royals for Aerys Sports, but since the site has been shut down, I am going out on my own.
