First inning video between Blue Rocks and Pelicans

The Wilmington Blue Rocks and Myrtle Beach Pelicans met earlier today, with the Pelicans winning 4-1. I tried to video a lot more today since it was a day game, but the sun and heat made my phone start to overheat.

So…below is the first four batters faced by Blue Rocks starter Pedro Fernandez in the first and the entire first inning for Pelicans starter Daury Torrez (four hitters). Fernandez allowed three runs on three hits, a hit batter, a wild pitch, and two stolen bases in the first.

The first batter of the game was Carolina League batting champ Chesny Young:

Next up was right fielder Mark Zagunis:

Fernandez then got third baseman Jason Vosler for the second out:

Then catcher Ben Carhart singled in a run:

Now to the bottom of the first…

Carlos Garcia led off against Torrez:

Next up was Jack Lopez:

Third baseman Mauricio Ramos followed:

First baseman Ryan O’Hearn made the final out:

About Jen Nevius

I first became a KC Royals fan way back in 1995 when I attended my first Wilmington Blue Rocks game. I fell in love with minor league baseball then and began following the Royals as former Blue Rocks clawed their way to the big leagues. 3+ years ago I started covering the Royals for Aerys Sports, but since the site has been shut down, I am going out on my own.
