Royals designate Kratz for assignment

Catcher Erik Kratz‘ LONG rehab assignment finally came to an end on Tuesday night with Triple-A Omaha (it began on May 22nd).

In 15 games with Omaha (56 games), Kratz went 12-for-56 (.214) with two doubles and four home runs. He drove in 12 and scored seven runs. He also walked five times compared to nine strikeouts. He had three multi-hit games.

The KC Royals announced today that they reinstated him from the DL and then designated him for assignment. I highly doubt he will return to the Storm Chasers, as there are a few teams looking for a solid backup catcher (ie Boston).

Best of luck to the all-around good guy!

About Jen Nevius

I first became a KC Royals fan way back in 1995 when I attended my first Wilmington Blue Rocks game. I fell in love with minor league baseball then and began following the Royals as former Blue Rocks clawed their way to the big leagues. 3+ years ago I started covering the Royals for Aerys Sports, but since the site has been shut down, I am going out on my own.
