After pitching very well on Sunday afternoon (until the Chicago White Sox scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth), KC Royals starter Edinson Volquez has decided to drop his appeal of his five-game suspension from throwing punches in Thursday night’s brawl.
Volquez will begin serving his suspension tonight in Cleveland. He will miss the three games against the Indians, and then the first two games against Detroit. Meaning, he could start Saturday’s game at Kauffman Stadium against the Tigers.
The Royals do not have starting pitchers listed for games after tonight (Jason Vargas against Corey Kluber).
