The KC Royals and Chicago White Sox were suspended after eight innings with the game tied at 2-2. They will start the game back up on Saturday afternoon, though the weather forecast is not looking good for tomorrow.
Danny Duffy was solid, allowing an unearned run on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
Jason Frasor entered in the sixth with a runner on base and walked the only batter he faced. Franklin Morales was next and got a fly out and a line out to escape the jam. However, Morales allowed a leadoff triple to Adam Eaton in the seventh and Melky Cabrera followed with a sac fly to tie the game.
Chris Young walked one and struck out three over 1.2 innings.
The Royals scored both of their runs off White Sox starter Jose Quintana. Paulo Orlando led off the third with a double and came around to score on Alcides Escobar‘s one out single. In the fifth, Orlando singled in a run to give the Royals the lead at the time.
Orlando is 3-for-3, while Lorenzo Cain has two hits.
Heading to the top of the ninth, the Royals will have LoCain, Eric Hosmer, and Kendrys Morales up. In the bottom of the ninth, the White Sox will have Emilio Bonifacio, Eaton, and Cabrera coming to bat.
*Prior to the game, lefty Brandon Finnegan was called up and infielder Orlando Calixte was sent back to Triple-A Omaha. It will be interesting to see how Finnegan pitches, as he has not pitched much so far this season in Double-A. I am curious to see how long he sticks around.
*So far, MLB has not notified the two teams of possible suspensions following Thursday night’s brawl.
