Herrera suspended, Ventura fined by MLB

The KC Royals finally got word today the fates of pitchers Yordano Ventura and Kelvin Herrera after the incidents that occurred over the weekend against Oakland.

Ventura got off easy.

He was only fined an undisclosed amount of money. Some teaching lesson. Hopefully the antics will stop and he can continue to grow as a pitcher. Ventura is in line to start on Thursday in Chicago against Chris Sale.

Herrera, on the other hand, was suspended for five games and also fined an undisclosed amount of money. He is appealing the suspension.

Losing Herrera for any amount a time could be huge for the Royals, who are also without closer Greg Holland (who is on the DL).

The Royals continue their series with Minnesota in a few hours.

About Jen Nevius

I first became a KC Royals fan way back in 1995 when I attended my first Wilmington Blue Rocks game. I fell in love with minor league baseball then and began following the Royals as former Blue Rocks clawed their way to the big leagues. 3+ years ago I started covering the Royals for Aerys Sports, but since the site has been shut down, I am going out on my own.
